Blonde, Britney, Wine & Travel Plans!

image

Happy Hump day!!

Here is what I’ve been lovin’ on lately

1. My blonde appointment last week – what’s better than a fresh new head of highlights …need I say more?

image

2. Its Britney B*!$#

image

yep Ms. Spears is coming to H-town next month and me and two of my girlfriends got our tickets!!! Cannot wait!

I am really considering pulling a Bailey and dressing to the nine

4. Prosecco

photo-2

yum. yum. and yum.

When it comes to wine, I usually stick to red but like I have bitched about stated numerous times it is so F-ing hott here that this cold Italian sparkling wine does the trick! Careful girls, this stuff goes down like water!

4. up and coming travel plans

BF sprung on me last week that he is whisking me away to CHI town in a couple of weeks for our 2 year anniversary and. I. am. so. freaking. excited!!!

image

Ever since we met he talked about how amazing it was, so we have always talked about going!

image

We are planning to do some of the must-see-do Chicagoy things of course, but I’d love to hear if any of you have any suggestions for what we should do while we’re there!

We are also planning on going to our good friends families timeshare in CABO! sometime either end of this year or early next.

It is so hard to focus on anything when you have future travel plans isn’t it??

5. Speaking “travel plans” I am moving this weekend!!!

Back in with my bestie!!

The nerve...

When I was a little girl, I was OBSESSED with Selena. Well, really I think a mix of JLO playing Selena too. I don't sing, I am not a dancer, I didn't speak Spanish, so I don't really know why said obsession took place but it did. and it was very real. I chalk it up to a couple of reasons 1. being  Selena is from Texas (Corpus Christi to be exact) so there is the Texas pride (duh!) and 2. I'm still, I'm still, Jenny from the block. gotta love JLO.

But seriously, I would watch that movie that it was my job. and bawl my eyes out every. single. time. Picture it. bleach blonde, blue eyed 10 year old girl bawling her eyes out watching Selena. I wonder what my parents thought I was smoking....

Portrait

Anywho TODAY is the anniversary of her death (R.I.P.) I was reminded this morning, thanks to a friend who knows about my childhood obsession and kindly reminded me on my facebook wall. It is still so sad to me she died at such a young age! She was so talented and SO many people loved her!

Therefore, I'm not sure why today is not a national holiday... but maybe certain people who declare national holiday's aren't aware what TODAY is.. cmon people, respect!

Thank you to Selena and JLO for hours and hours of joy for my childhood!

Always follow your dreams people!

HOTD: Braided

My HOTD comes from inspiration from these ladies..

{I love this one!!}

I love the braided look! It is perfect for Summer and you can make it dressy or casual. It is also so great for when you just want to pull your hair back.. it gives the basic ponytail a little somethin' extra.

Here is my version:

I definitely need to work with it a little more to perfect it... but, not bad for a 2 minute hairstyle on my way out the door, right!?

Have you tried any braided hairstyles lately??

oopsies…

I have gotten sort of behind on the blog challenge and blogging because school got in my way, and then I went and saw this guy at the Rodeo last night…

image

Anywho, I’ll back track and do a quick catch up of the Blog Challenge over at Fierce Fit and Fabulous

Day 6 - A picture of a person you'd love to trade places with for a day
It was a close race between Kristin Chenoweth, Carrie Underwood and Lea Michele (Can you tell how badly I wish I could sing??) but the winner is…
image

Love love love, Gwyneth.

She is so beautiful, seems so down to earth and always having fun. I’d love to spend a day in her shoes especially because this was the email I received last week in place of her weekly blog…

I'm having an insanely busy week in LA, doing Glee and other madness. See you next week.
Love,
gp

Can you imagine being too busy to blog because you're guest-starring on GLEE!!?? Oh, what a life! Gwyneth, how about we trade places for a day… Call me!!!

FYI – That GLEE episode she was taping..  it’s ON TONIGHT!!!

Day 7 - A picture of your most treasured item
Easy. My jewelry
photo

Collected from so many different places, given to me by so many different people for different occasions. Baptism, graduation, birthdays, etc. I love all my jewelry so much especially because I was in a bus fire about 7 years ago and lost a bunch of jewelry that was irreplaceable. It broke my heart but I rebuilt my collection and pray that I never have to start from scratch again!
Day 8 – A picture that makes you laugh

image
(Sorry for the awful picture quality, this was taken on my I-phone)

This is my boyfriend’s dog, Lady. Don’t judge or call me an animal abuser (I mean, look at the picture, you know she loves it!)... occasionally we like to put clothes on her, preferably t-shirts and gym shorts because 1. she likes to play basketball, duh. and 2. it is absolutely hilarious!!
I love seeing this picture and it always brings a smile to my face because she looks so happy and with her mouth wide open she looks like she is saying “Hey, I’m ready, let’s go play some bball” HAH!
Happy Tuesday!! (don't forget to watch GLEE!)

Some quick Oscar thoughts

Just thought I would add my own thoughts to the Oscar talk…

The Hosts

I love them both (especially James) and I was really looking forward to a more youthful and humorous Oscars however, they really disappointed me…

image

(Here is a perfect depiction of their performance. James looking like he could care less and Anne trying way too hard to be funny.)

Gosh. I really don’t know what to say… I sort of forgot James was even hosting (which is so sad because my bf can tell you, I am a HUGE Franco fan). Unfortunately he disappeared behind Anne’s “WOOHOO”’s, uncontrollable laughing, and not funny jokes. I seriously think she was really drunk or just too immature/nervous to host such a prestigious award show … whatever it was, she was acting totally weird and at times, I even felt uncomfortable watching her …

like when she kept touching her stomach…

image

WTF??

To be honest, the person who stood out to me the most was SANDRA! She introduced the nominees for Best Actor because she won Best Actress last year and her genuinely natural wit shined far beyond James and Anne’s attempts at humor. She didn’t even seem to try but she was absolutely hilarious – I think she would make a great host one day!!

image

To “The Academy”…. I, and I am sure others my age would agree,  very much appreciate your attempt at a more youthful Oscars, and while I think Anne and James were a great idea on your part…I think from now on we should stick to veteran comedians to avoid this kind of flop in the future. Sandra 2012 sounds great to me. Just sayin’….

Now on to the dresses!

purple was a big and beautiful color this year!

image

My favorite. I think she looks so beautiful and her speech was so genuine it brought me to tears. I just love her and I am so happy she won!

image

My other favorite. So beautiful!! I love the lace detail

image

Bright colors were also big this year and all 3 ladies look stunning but my favorite has to go to J. Hudson because…well, DAYUM.

Jennifer before

After

image

She doesn’t even look like the same person. You go girl!

Another one of my favorites

image

She looked so beautiful, but to be honest.. its really hard for Gwyneth to do wrong in my book..

Now off to bed for me, goodnight!
