Let’s get a little hairy

Good morning loves! Hope you all had a great St. Patty’s!

Day 17 of Cait’s blog challenge is to post a picture of your biggest insecurity

image

Mine used to be my hair! As a kid, I could not appreciate the thickness, frizzy, and curly characteristics of my hair. I would always tie it back into a bun because I just wished I would wake up one day and have thin, straight hair! The grass is always greener, right?

People would always tease me about why I never wore my hair down and then when I would they would tease me for how thick and curly it was!

image

Finally when I discovered the wonderful world that is hair products I began to play and learn how to tame my hair. I finally started to appreciate and love my hair for what it was. God blessed me with thick, curly, crazy, beautiful hair that had endless possibilities and hairstyles!

Now I really do love my hair and find it so funny that I used to hide it instead of embrace it, but I guess that is all in growing up!

Some products I have found that I love using to tame my mane are…

image

The entire Frizz-Ease collection is amazing for this girl living in The humidity city!

image

Aveda damage remedy. You use it in the shower after you condition you hair. Amazing.

image

TRESemme Heat Tamer Protective Spray

Spray it on your hair before you blow dry and flat iron. I love this product!

image

Infusion Keratin Complex

This stuff is my life! It is like vitamins for your hair. You put it in right after the shower and my hair feels so much healthier after using this product!

And last but certainly not least.. my handy dandy…

One of the best inventions. ever.

I am sad my Spring Break is already coming to an end but I am going to the Rocket’s game tonight (WOOHOO!) and have a bachelorette party Saturday night! Not a bad way to end my Spring Break!

Hope y’all have a wonderful weekend!!

PS: Run, don’t walk to your computer because Forever 21 is donating 100% of what you spend online TODAY to the relief efforts in Japan. If that doesn’t squash any buyers remorse you may have, I don’t know what will!

All caught up!

Almost caught up on my missed days of Cait’s Blog challenge! Here are days 14, 15 and 16. Enjoy!

Day 14 - A picture of someone you could never imagine your life without

{warning: very sappy stuff ahead}

bradandjenny4

Every since I met this handsome guy my life has been completely different! I LOVE thinking about the day we met because it was such an unexpected breath of fresh air. We met through friends of friends at a totally random last minute pool day (that both of us almost didn’t go to!) He walked straight over to me, introduced himself, and we immediately clicked like we had known each other forever! We hung out, talked and had so much fun all day together. I remember it was so easy and natural and within hours I think we both knew something very special was about to begin. He took me out on our first date a few nights later where we talked for hours and have been inseparable ever since! Some things that I love about him are that he makes me laugh CONSTANTLY.. we are super goofy together and have jokes that only we would find funny, he has such a passion for cooking (major points from the get-go) and owning his family’s restaurant one day and he LOVES his family so much (seeing him with his nieces and nephews are priceless moments for me!) I could go on and on so I will just stop there… I really could not imagine my life without him today!

Day 15 - A picture of something you want to do before you die

n1529730507_30675483_1102

Skydiving was my big one thing to do before I die, and although I have already checked that one off... I still don’t consider myself off the hook because instead of landing here…

image

I want to be landing here…

image

So before I die, I will skydive in the most gorgeous place on Earth instead of a pig sty!

Okay, so it wasn’t really a pig sty but it was a big bland open field and I think there were some pigs off in the corner…

Day 16 - A picture of someone who inspires you

image

{Beth Moore}

I look up to a lot of wonderful, strong women but one woman who really inspires me is this woman, Beth Moore. If you don’t know her, you should definitely look into her books!! She is a woman’s speaker and author who has a passion for not only loving the Lord but also helping women love themselves and others! She is so honest and real that if you ever feel down or you are having a bad day, simply reading excerpts from her books put everything in perspective, at least for me. She cuts straight to the point about how we were created and how we should live as women and treat other women. She really inspires me to be a better woman, sister, friend and an all around helpless person. Love you, Beth!!

Stay tuned for my shopping finds woohoo!!

Blog challenge update..

I know I’m behind but I AM still linking up to Cait’s 30 day blog challenge over at Fierce Fit and Fabulous so here it goes…

Day 11 - A picture of something you hate dislike

{I was taught at a young age that hate is an ugly word.. so I changed it hah}

image

agh.. my skin is crawling just thinking about Jell-O! I strongly, strongly dislike Jell-O, gummy words and anything with that texture! When I tell people who try to give me Jell-O shots that I really cannot take them they are always like “come on, man up” but seriously the taste and texture of Jell-O will make me vomit. so if you try to make me take one, prepare to be thrown up on… just sayin’…

Day 12 - A picture of something you love

image

Sticking with the food theme… I LOVE chocolate especially dark chocolate!

Day 13 - A picture of your favorite band or artist

hmm.. this is hard! I love pretty much all music.. being from the south of course I have a strong love for country music, love a good dance beat and you know I love ballads and songs from musicals so I’ll just share some pictures of some of my favorites..

image

Love listening to the Glee Pandora station at work..  there have been multiple songs where I didn’t like the original version but now love the Glee version!

image

{Carrie Underwood}

loved her since day one on AI… need I say more?

image

{Kristin Chenoweth}

Amazing Christian woman with an incredible voice (read her book!!)

image

Katy Perry

It took me a while to warm up to her but it was hard to stay away for long. Her laughter and smile is infectious and her songs are so girly and fun. I also love that she obviously doesn’t give a flip what anyone thinks about her!

image

My favorite tunes when working out and guaranteed to start a dance party!

I also love Michael Buble, Darius Rucker, Jack Johnson, Jason Mraz and so many more!

Stay tuned for Days 14, 15 and 16 and my shopping finds!

Spring Break kick-off

Hi lovies! 5 pm today kicked off my Spring Break!!! and I am so excited!

For the first night of my Spring Break, I am off to the boyfriends to have our annual “family” night dinner where we cook dinner together, watch Jersey Shore and usually have some wine (yes, adopted from The Shore’s annual Sunday night family dinner)

image

love it!

Here are my past 2 days of the blog challenge at Fierce Fit and Fabulous! I wanted to do these together because 1. they are two of my favorite people and 2. I get to see them both this week!!!

Day 9 - A picture of the person who has gotten you through the most

20532_299836629201_608029201_4687230_8356566_n

Again, this would be my sister. Obviously, I have known her longer than anyone else and therefore we have been through it ALL together and have been by each other’s side through the good relationships, bad relationships, the breakups and makeups, making friends and losing friends and now her ENGAGEMENT and next year her WEDDING! Can’t wait!

Day 10 - A picture of the person you do the most ****** up things with

4639_204180965367_551340367_7045317_6391851_n

*This is when I went darker for a bit!*

I wouldn’t say I do ****** up things in any sense, but this girl would definitely be the person who I have SO much fun no matter what we are doing (we call our girls nights out, “adventures”), because we always seem to get into some sort of predicament or have some hilarious story to tell about our night, and we are always laughing until we cry!! I can’t wait to see her!!!

oopsies…

I have gotten sort of behind on the blog challenge and blogging because school got in my way, and then I went and saw this guy at the Rodeo last night…

image

Anywho, I’ll back track and do a quick catch up of the Blog Challenge over at Fierce Fit and Fabulous

Day 6 - A picture of a person you'd love to trade places with for a day
It was a close race between Kristin Chenoweth, Carrie Underwood and Lea Michele (Can you tell how badly I wish I could sing??) but the winner is…
image

Love love love, Gwyneth.

She is so beautiful, seems so down to earth and always having fun. I’d love to spend a day in her shoes especially because this was the email I received last week in place of her weekly blog…

I'm having an insanely busy week in LA, doing Glee and other madness. See you next week.
Love,
gp

Can you imagine being too busy to blog because you're guest-starring on GLEE!!?? Oh, what a life! Gwyneth, how about we trade places for a day… Call me!!!

FYI – That GLEE episode she was taping..  it’s ON TONIGHT!!!

Day 7 - A picture of your most treasured item
Easy. My jewelry
photo

Collected from so many different places, given to me by so many different people for different occasions. Baptism, graduation, birthdays, etc. I love all my jewelry so much especially because I was in a bus fire about 7 years ago and lost a bunch of jewelry that was irreplaceable. It broke my heart but I rebuilt my collection and pray that I never have to start from scratch again!
Day 8 – A picture that makes you laugh

image
(Sorry for the awful picture quality, this was taken on my I-phone)

This is my boyfriend’s dog, Lady. Don’t judge or call me an animal abuser (I mean, look at the picture, you know she loves it!)... occasionally we like to put clothes on her, preferably t-shirts and gym shorts because 1. she likes to play basketball, duh. and 2. it is absolutely hilarious!!
I love seeing this picture and it always brings a smile to my face because she looks so happy and with her mouth wide open she looks like she is saying “Hey, I’m ready, let’s go play some bball” HAH!
Happy Tuesday!! (don't forget to watch GLEE!)

My favorite memory

It is definitely hard to choose just one memory because I have so many wonderful memories that I think about often. However, there is a time in my life that I am forever thankful for and would definitely consider as my favorite memory.

Here is my testimony.

I have grown up going to church, every Sunday. No exceptions. Even though I know it was a struggle getting me there (sorry, Mom and dad) I am SO thankful to my parents for never giving in to the “I don’t wanna gooooo” excuses and making me go to church, and learn about God.

image

When I was in 6th grade I finally started to understand what being a Christian was and actually enjoyed going to church. I remember beginning to feel the power and strength that comes with knowing and loving such an amazing God when I went on an all girl’s retreat one weekend and the speaker was so powerful my heart was just overflowing. When she asked if anyone would like to profess their faith and accept Christ into their life come to the front by the stage and I knew He was calling me to walk up to that stage. I walked to the front, said I want Jesus in my heart, prayed with some wonderful women and then called my parents. It was such a wonderful memory.

A couple weeks later I stood in front of the entire congregation at my church, professed my faith and the pastor dipped me into the water. Although, I probably didn’t fully understand the power of that one dip into the water as much as I do now, I will never forget that moment. I was born a new person, a girl in Christ, that water had washed my sins, and I was saved. Amazing.

This day was also the last time I saw my Nanny (my father’s mother) who I was very close with. She gave me a huge hug, told me she was so proud of me, gave me a gift and then one week later, she peacefully went to Heaven. I’m sure some of you are confused why seeing my Nanny for the last time would be my favorite memory, and even I was confused for a long time why God chose to take her then, but I like to think that He cashed in her ticket to Heaven and He wanted me to have it..  and that is why it is my favorite memory. I learned to not dwell on the fact that she was gone but to be thankful to God. He waited for her to see the most important day of my life before He took her home and let us share that moment together. I will never forget that last hug and her telling me how proud she was. Thank you, God.

I challenge all of you out there to be faithful in God even though we may not always understand His timing or how He has guided where your life may be today. His plan is a perfect plan. Let us all be faithful in that. God is so good.

I’ll leave you with one of my favorite quotes that I read when I need to remind myself to be more faithful.

“To be grateful for the good things that happens in our lives is easy, but to be grateful for all of our lives—the good AS WELL as the bad,

the moments of joy AS WELL as the moments of sorrow,

the successes AS WELL as the failures,

the rewards AS WELL as the rejections

That requires hard spiritual work…Let us not be afraid to look at everything that has brought us to where we are now and where we may be going and know it is all in the guiding hand of a loving God.”

My typical night

Day 3

Post a picture of the cast from your favorite show.

I love reality TV but the one show I would HATE to miss, and the show that I find myself watching episodes over again after I have just finished watching them is…..

image

Words can’t truly express my love for this show. I have loved musicals for so long and also love a great comedy, and Glee is the perfect combination of both. It is one of the shows that you can’t help but sing along to, laugh, smile and WILL always turn a bad day around. Another reason I love the show so much is because of the casting! The characters are REAL people with REALLY INSANE talent and the creator is a genius. They also have awesome cameos from celebrities and the characters they have for them are priceless!

If you have never watched Glee, after you stop feeling ashamed, turn off your computer and go rent season 1 now! Please?

If I haven’t convinced you yet, watch these…

Still don’t have you on Team Glee?….. try these

Lea Michele and Kristin Chenoweth. No words. only chills.

My all time favorites.

If those didn’t get you…..well, you are a lost cause and you have no soul.

just kidding…. but seriously, we can’t be friends.
