My road to bliss

When I started blogging I was at a crossroads with where my life was headed so I appropriately named my blog “The Road to Bliss” to help chronicle my journey at finding bliss in every aspect of my life.

So, naturally when I got engaged, married and had Bailey, I debated for weeks on changing my blog name. Because I now, had found bliss.

Happiness

Even though I am happier than I have ever been, I began thinking that no matter where we are in our lives we should always be on the road to bliss. We should never arrive there and just stop. Life doesn’t stop. We need to be constantly challenging ourselves, trying new things, creating new hobbies, making new friends, always striving to be a better person, Christian, friend, wife and mom. All of which will continue to bring more and more bliss into our lives every day!  You’ll never hear anyone say they have too much bliss in their lives!

So I ask you friends, are you on your road to bliss?

here are 3 ways to break out of your same old, same old and bring in some more bliss!

1. make a new friend/reconnect with old friends or commit to seeing your current friends more

Seek out other bloggers in your area, contact old friends you haven’t seen in a while. Both of which I am committed to doing this summer! I have such a fun group of bloggers (Htown bloggers) in my area that meet up each month and I have never been (for shame) but come July, I will be there! I also just learned a friend from elementary school just moved into my neighborhood and another moved nearby! We have all said we will get together. but I am committed to making that happen! I am also committing to seeing my current friends more often, we all get so busy and live all over the city  so its easy to go weeks without seeing them! Not any longer! I went over to one of my best friends houses last night to catch up and hang out

2. Find a new hobby: try a new workout

I recently tried Zumba for the first time. I almost chickened out and just went to my trusty old treadmill but I challenged myself and am SO glad that I did. That had to be the most fun I have ever had working out. and even bigger plus, I am pretty sore which in workout code means its working, right?….

Zumba, Zumba, Zumba, Zumba!!

I should look like this in no time, no? I am excited to continue going to a class I love and there are many more I can’t wait to try!

‘3. clear the clutter/revamp some old furniture

Clean out your closets, garage, even your car. Clearing the clutter will instantly give you a mood booster! And could possibly make you some cash! Have a garage sale, a blog sale, or take your items to a store like Plato’s closet where they will buy your gently used clothes. Or just do your good deed for the day and donate them!

You could go an even further step and revamp an old piece of furniture, a mirror or even some picture frames. It’s amazing what a can of paint (even spray) can do!

I don’t have a photo of my actual chairs before (shame) but picture something like this

bring in a small can of paint, fabric and a staple gun

Bailey Anne: 1 month

my little girl turn 1 month old recently! At her 2 week old appointment she weighed in at 8 lbs 8 oz. but I recently hopped on the scale with her and she was about 9-10 lbs!

She definitely has changed in appearance in the past couple weeks, when she was born she was a spitting image of her dad but as those chunky precious cheeks and big blue eyes have come in, I see a little more of myself!

She was 21 in. long at her 2 week appointment and is wearing newborn and 0-3 clothes. Although the newborn sleepers with feet are probably ready to be retired any day now *tear

The past month has been so much fun, with her changing SO much every day! When we brought her home, I loved how small and delicate she was, I kept saying I never wanted her to grow but the more she changes, the more joy she brings us each and every day! She is starting to focus and smile so much which melts my heart and although she was trying to lift her head at 2 days old (overachiever!) she can definitely hold her head up much better and turn her head from side to side. She LOVES to kick and has strong little legs, which I knew long before she was here!

She is the cuddliest little baby and LOVES to be held, snuggle up to my face and sleep in our arms. I have to remind myself at times when I feel like I’ve done NADA all day long that one day I won’t be able to hold onto her long enough, so enjoy these moments when I am all she wants Smile

She has been a great breast feeder from day one but we have started to supplement a bottle of formula 1 or 2 days a week just to give momma break from time to time. When she does take a bottle she is eating 4 oz. and has consistently been eating every 3-4 hours.

back in blogging action!

Hi friends! yes, I’m still alive just been a little busy Smile

Bailey Anne Broussard

On April 24th at 4:37 am our precious little girl was born!

The past 5 weeks have been a whirlwind of the greatest emotions and moments of my life! Don’t get it twisted, it has also been some of the toughest moments but being a mom is the single greatest gift God could ever give someone! I am blessed and so thankful I was chosen to be this little angel’s momma!

As June begins, I am making the commitment to start blogging again. Being that I started this blog primarily to have a journal of sorts to look back on one day, but now as she is going to grow SO fast, I definitely want to keep better track of what’s going on!

I won’t make this an entire “baby” blog but would you blame me if I did??

ok.. got that out of my system.

What do an old woman, a drunk and Jon Stewart have in common?

ME, apparently….

Today I am linking up with Raven for

Photobucket

Total bumpdate

Thank you again for ALL the sweet comments and kind words!! It was quite the road getting to where we are now but we could not be happier!! I will go back in time again soon and do wedding posts, house renovations, baby shower and show you the nursery! but I want to continue on with current updates as well. Hope this isn’t too confusing or annoying to anyone!

Here are some pics throughout my pregnancy!

And here I am this week!

image

(36 weeks)

I apologize for poor quality and lack of photos I was really bad about taking them!

Total weight gain/loss: I’m at 23 lbs.  She has been measuring big pretty much the entire time! My due date is April 30th but at my last appt. my Dr. could already feel her head and scheduled to induce me April 23rd (If I make it ‘til then)!!
Maternity clothes? I got away with wearing my clothes for quite some time! I had to switch over to only wearing jeggings, leggings and dresses around 6 months but could still wear my tops. When I popped, I bought some tops from Motherhood and maternity jeans from Target (which are SO comfortable!) But I am still wearing my maxi dresses and flowy tops!

Stretch marks? I have been trying to apply lotion and cocoa butter religiously but I have spotted a few…..

Sleep: I’ve had a great pregnancy, slept great the entire time until about two weeks ago. Its been a little tough between being uncomfortable, having to pee and having heartburn I HATED sleeping and was exhausted! My doctor suggested Prevacid which is heaven sent and I feel like I have been sleeping better but every couple of nights seems to be rough!

Best moment this week:  My favorite moments have been of course, hearing the heartbeat for the first time, seeing my babe for the first time, finding out she was a SHE, feeling her kick, getting the nursery ready, my baby shower and many more!

Miss Anything? being completely honest, margaritas. margaritas and margaritas. they are my favorite drink and I miss them. Also starting to miss my energy and as its getting warmer, I’m missing getting to wear my spring clothes and high heels

Movement: She moves all the time! She loves music (I went to a musical this weekend and the Rockets game last night and she was dancing and cheering along almost the whole time!) My favorite moments are times when I haven’t seen the hubs all day long and as soon as I see him and he starts talking, she starts to kick *she loves her daddy! melts my heart!

Food cravings: In the beginning it was dairy! I drank a gallon a milk every other day and ate Mac & Cheese like it was going out of style, it was crazy. Lately it has been sweets. Cereal, powdered donuts, ice cream! Smile
Anything making you queasy or sick: I am so blessed to say I NEVER got sick! The only thing that I used to love but don’t really sound appetizing anymore is mushrooms!

Gender: Pink, pink, pink!

Labor Signs: I think I’ve had a few minor braxton hicks

Symptoms: my back hurt a lot in the beginning but now really just a draining energy level, heartburn and leg cramps

Belly Button in or out? neither haha, just sort of flat so I’m thinking it’ll turn out any day now…

Wedding rings on or off? On

Happy or Moody most of the time: HAPPY!  with occasional frustrated moments when I start to feel really exhausted but want to keep pushing forward!

Looking forward to: finishing up last touches in the nursery, and meeting our girl! I talk to her all the time, almost everywhere I go I am introducing her to where we are, can’t wait to actually have her in tow with me!
